We’re Back — And So Much Has Changed!

Hey friends,

It’s El Hebert here — and wow, it feels so good to be back!

If you’ve been following along since the Home with El days, then you know it’s been a few years since I’ve shared an update. Life got full, fast. But I’m back, and I’m so excited to bring you into this new chapter with me and my family.

So much has happened in the time I’ve been away, and I thought it was time to catch you up…

A New Home in a New State

A while back, we packed up our lives in Ohio and made a big, sun-soaked move to the beautiful state of Florida. We purchased our dream home — a true fixer-upper sitting on three peaceful acres — and immediately rolled up our sleeves and got to work.

What began as a simple home renovation quickly turned into a full-blown DIY adventure: we’ve knocked down walls, pulled up floors, and even dug two-foot-deep holes in the kitchen just to rebuild things better. This kind of work isn’t for the faint of heart, but let me tell you — it’s been so worth it.

Homestead Dreams

But we didn’t stop with the inside.

We started building our very own homestead — something we’ve always dreamed of. We’ve added a few sweet farm animals, planted a mini orchard, and are in the early stages of planning a 10,000-square-foot garden filled with vegetables and flowers. The vision is big, and the work is constant… but every bit of it is fueled by love and purpose.

Major Life Changes

In the midst of it all, our personal lives shifted, too. I made the big decision to step away from my teaching career after years in the classroom, and my husband retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years of dedicated service.

Together, we’re stepping into something brand new — something we’ve dreamed about, prayed over, and are now building from the ground up.

Introducing: HebWood

And so, HebWood was born — our family business rooted in creativity, design, and home. HebWood is more than just a home décor brand; it’s a reflection of who we are and what we love — crafting beautiful, meaningful spaces filled with warmth, purpose, and personality.

This blog is where I’ll be sharing it all — the renovations, the homestead life, the small victories and big lessons, and the journey of building a business as a family. We’re learning as we go, trusting God with every step, and excited to see where He leads us next.
